Editorial cartoons published in Nacho’s college newspaper after he moved back to his hometown of El Paso & went back to college in his late 20s, Rodney Dangerfield-style.

From Nacho: “From the beginning, the college newspaper editors had an issue with my ideology. They rejected some cartoons, made me change punchlines to others, & always made me defend myself if the cartoon lampooned conservative viewpoints. I had some success for a while sticking to old-fashioned editorial cartoon tropes involving Uncle Sam, but the editors had it in for me. They were these older guys, maybe college professors. Sometimes in our interactions it felt like they had nothing better to do than to give me a hard time with my cartoons that I was only drawing to bring joy into this universe. Before too long they had one of their toadies call me up & accuse me of not even being a student at the school. I knew the gig had run its course. Which was fine with me at the time, I was getting burned out saturating myself with news for $25 a cartoon.”
